Frederic is a courageous 38-year-old man living with an extraordinarily rare congenital condition: he was born without a spine to support the lower half of his body. Despite the physical limitations this presents, Frederic meets each day with quiet resilience and unwavering dignity.
Life hasn’t been easy. With both of his parents now gone, Frederic navigates the world largely on his own. His current wheelchair is broken and unreliable—leaving him vulnerable. When he falls, he must wait, sometimes for hours, until a kind stranger notices and helps him up. These moments are not only physically dangerous but deeply isolating.
And yet, Frederic never complains. What he longs for most is something many of us take for granted: a functional wheelchair. One that would allow him to move safely, reclaim a measure of independence, and live with the dignity he deserves. He retains movement in his head and one hand—enough to steer and navigate, if only he had the right equipment.
